The consortium consists of the Quality Assurance Agency for Pre-University Education (ASCAP) of the Albanian Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth and eight universities across Albania representing seven areas. The three partners from the European Union represent the North, the South and the West of the European Union.

University of Turku, Finland

The University of Turku (UTU) is a multidisciplinary scientific university. Expertise of eight faculties ranges from humanities to natural sciences and business. The University of Turku is one of the leading research universities in Finland offering research and study opportunities in eight faculties. UTU has 20.000 students, including 2.000 international students from over 100 different countries, and approximately 3.000 graduates each year. The University of León, Spain

The University of León (ULE) is a young and active public HEI, which has had an interest in international education since its beginnings in 1979. Its two campuses serve 13.500 students in a varied menu of degrees (42 Bachelor programmes, 37 Master programmes, 16 Doctorates and 39 expert, specialist and other degrees). With a strong and centralized international office since 1989, it gathers experience and potential to organize and manage major projects such as the one we are now applying for. ULE is a founding member of the Santander Group and the Compostela Group of Universities. ULE entered the ECTS second extension bid and was one of the first Spanish universities able to show a consistent information package in full accordance to the EU patterns. Enrolled in international exchange programs since 1987, it sends yearly 440 students to EU destinations and 120 to non-EU academic institutions.

Technological University Dublin, Ireland

Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin) is Ireland’s first Technological University, offering a unique range of programs and disciplines, with pathways to graduation from foundation and apprenticeship to undergraduate and doctoral levels. TU Dublin is a university where the arts, business, sciences, engineering and technology converge and its 28,500 students and researchers come from all over Ireland and from all parts of the globe.  The new University has well-developed campuses in Dublin City and in the two largest areas of population growth in the Greater Dublin Region – Blanchardstown and Tallaght. Now, a new city campus is being developed on a spectacular 73-acre site at Grangegorman in central Dublin which is currently the largest higher education development project in Europe.

Albanian Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth (ASCAP)

The Quality Assurance Agency for Pre-University Education (ASCAP) was established by DCM No. 98, dated 27.02.2019, “On the Establishment, Strength of the Organization and Functioning of the Quality Assurance Agency for Pre-University Education (ASCAP)”. ASCAP was established on the basis of two institutions: the Education Development Institute and the State Education Inspectorate. The ASCAP mission is to guarantee the performance of the pre-university education system and the quality of public and private pre-university education in accordance with a competency-based curriculum approach. The ASCAP is responsible for analyzing, developing, publishing and reviewing documents such as: curricular framework, subject programs and standards, supporting materials for curriculum implementation at national level; organizing the professional development of teachers in national level and the teacher qualification. The ASCAP assesses, on a risk basis, the activity of the institutions responsible for the provision of pre-university education services and public and private educational institutions of the pre-university education system. ASCAP is member of CIDRE (Consortium of Institutions for Development and Research in Education in Europe). ASCAP has carried out different projects in strong cooperation with Council of Europe, UNESCO, UNICEF, UNDP, UNFPA, British Council, Save the Children, Word Vision, etc.

 

Sports University of Tirana, Albania

The Sports University of Tirana (UST) is the only higher education public institution with scientific teaching character in the Republic of Albania, which is preparing physical education teachers and sports specialists. From 1958 until today, Sports University of Tirana is the only institution in our country that has systematically graduated Teachers, Trainers and Senior Specialists of Physical Education and Sport. The scientific sector of the institution was developed beginning with 1962. This sector identifies and processes modern scientific thought in the field of physical education and sports. UST is an academic structure which has three faculties: Faculty of Movement Sciences, Faculty of Physical Activity and Recreation, Faculty of Rehabilitation Sciences as well as Scientific Research Institute of Sport. The mission of Sports University of Tirana (UST) is  education of the students and specialists in high education study levels, qualification of academic and scientific staff in the areas of physical education, health and recreation, promoting research and studies in the fields of physical education and sports, physical activity, health and recreation and providing services to third parties and consultancy in the field of physical education and sports, physical activity, health and recreation.

 

Aleksandër Moisiu University of Durrës, Albania

Established in 2006, Aleksandër Moisiu University Durrës (UAMD) is the fastest growing public university in the country with approximately 20,000 students in the three study cycles and six main units: Faculty of Business, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Information Technology, Faculty of Political Judicial Sciences, Faculty of Professional Studies, and Faculty of Integrated Studies with Practice (FASTIP).UAMD is a student-centred institution which introduced new methods to foster and develop critical and analytical thinking as well as a sense of responsibility and social commitment. UAMD is the first public higher-education institution that applied the Integrated Students Management System (ISMS) which provides the best technical infrastructure for reorganizing and sharing information with students and academic staff. Degrees are offered in two languages (Albanian and English) and the evaluation system is based on the European Credits Transfer System (ECTS) and the American Credit System (USCs).

 

University Aleksander Xhuvani Elbasan, Albania

University of Elbasan “Aleksandër Xhuvani” (UNIEL), is a public institution of higher education in Albania, located in the city of Elbasan. It has a commitment to providing the highest quality education to the students so that they can become successful professionals in their chosen fields and develop positive influences in their communities. We believe that education is one of the tools in Albania’s integration into the European Union, and thus quality education will help equip our students with the required expertise and know-how necessary for social and economic progress and development. UNIEL numbers 257 full-time academic staff, 132 supportive staff and 424 adjunct faculty professors and lecturers, committed to provide a high quality educational experience through teaching and research opportunities. The studies are organised in three study cycles: Bachelor, Master and Doctoral Studies, designed in accordance with the “Bologna Declaration”. The academic staff applies effective teaching methods that integrate student-centered learning and foster learner autonomy. Upon graduation, our students are skilled communicators, and very attractive to prospective employers. The University of Elbasan currently has five faculties: Faculty of Economy, Faculty of Human Sciences, Faculty of Education Sciences, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Faculty of Medical Technical Sciences, with many departments respectively.

 

University Eqrem Çabej Gjirokaster, Albania

“Eqrem Çabej” University of Gjirokastra is the most important higher education institution situated in the Southern part of Albania. It was opened by decision of the Council of Ministers, November 1991, on basis of a High Pedagogical Institute, opened in 1971. This university welcomes almost 4000 students in all its programs of study. It has 3 Faculties (Education and Social Sciences Faculty, Natural Science Faculty, Economic Faculty) and 14 Departments. The University attracts students mainly from the Southern Region, but not limited only to this area. In recent years, it accepts students from all over the country as well as from other neighboring regions of Albania, such as Kosovo, Macedonia and Greece. Our University welcomes the most contemporary ideas, progressive curricula for the development of our society, professional ambitions and tangible pedagogical and scientific work. At our University, different generations of teachers and university lectures, different kinds of cultures and trends are met and they achieve perfection through respecting the historical individualities, the present and future of each of them. EÇUG presents interest in the exploration of the region and scientific research in all fields, mainly in education, Albanology (linguistics), anthropology, inter ethnic, intercultural and inter-religious relations, archaeology, ecology, and tourism. Recently our University is Accredited with the Decision of Administration Board n. 67 date 21.09.2017. Our University consists in 3 Faculties and  14 Departments, respectively: Faculty of Education and Social Sciences, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Economic Faculty. Gjirokastra University offers full time study programs being based on principles of Bologna system.

 

 University Fan S. Noli Korce, Albania

The beginning of the Higher Education in the town of Korça, started on the 15th of October 1968 when within the Evening High school was opened the Evening Filial of the 2-year pedagogical Institute, which began its preparations since the year 1961; it was mentioned for the first time as the consulting center, inside the High school “Raqi Qirinxhi”, this school functioned as a consultative office for the students who attended the Higher School by correspondence. This consulting center continued its work until the year 1966. The Evening Filial of the 2-year Pedagogical Institute functioned with four different branches of the pedagogical profile. They were: Language and Literature, Mathematics and Physics, History-Geography, Biology – Chemistry. In the year 1969, there were two new branches of the economic profile in the Evening Filial. They were: Accounting and Agronomy branch. In 1970 it was opened as the Mechanical Engineering branch. The number of the graduates from this Filial were in total 1151: Accounting and Economic Branch – 227 students, Planning Economics Branch – 89 students, Mechanical Engineering Branch – 168 students, Construction Engineering Branch – 43 students, Pedagogical Profile branch – 574 students.

 

University Luigj Gurakuqi Shkoder, Albania

“Luigj Gurakuqi” University of Shkodra was established in 1957 as a High Pedagogical Institute. At the beginning this University had two Faculties (Faculty of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Natural Sciences). It changed its status to University of Shkodra, “Luigj Gurakuqi” by the Ministers’ Council decree n. 124, on 28.05.1991. University of Shkodra has now 6 Faculties (Faculty of Social Sciences, Faculty of Educational Sciences, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Foreign Languages).

 

University College Pavaresia Vlore, Albania

University Ismail Qemali Vlore, Albania

University “Ismail Qemali” Vlore is nationally recognized as a public university offering students a personal, high quality, affordable education through a diverse combination of liberal studies, professional instruction, and cultural and social experience. Recognized as one of Albanian’s main universities, UV offers opportunities to work directly on research projects with expert faculty who bring current knowledge right to the classroom. Located in the bay of Vlore, UV is easily accessible to millions of people who come to visit Vlore every year as a tourist destination. 321 academic staff works full time in order that the students can find at UV a fully committed faculty and excellent programs that will prepare them to be leaders in the new global economy. We offer a wide variety of programs in social sciences and engineering, business, public health, medical studies, etc. Our academic programs are based under the Bologna Accord. Currently UV provides three levels of studies. UV provides rigorous educational programs. A strong core of liberal arts and sciences is the basis on which undergraduates develop the skills, knowledge, and attitudes essential for successful living and active, concerned citizenship. A variety of majors and specialized curricula prepare students for post-baccalaureate education, professional schools, or careers directly after graduation. Each program provides a variety of courses and curricular experiences to ensure an enriched life along with superior career preparation or enhancement.  Through the Regional Development Centre (RDC), UV has good expertise in developing short programs of studies for specific skills training and long-life learning. RDC has good experience in European project development and management. The objectives have been focused on professional body training, like teachers, nurses, IT specialists, and the quality of courses at the European standards level.
